Last night I took tons of smoke photos. The concept is to incorporate these into the Rooftop Runners portrait I took a week ago. It already looks great, but once I blend in the smoke images in the final version, it should give the portrait the edge I'm looking for.
Taking such photos is super easy. All you need is a black background, an incense stick, an off-camera flash or a regular house lamp and a couple of gobos (anything you could find that would block the light from the flash from spilling to the background and creating flare in the lens). Adding the colour is simple too; Lightroom and the Split Toning feature is built for that.
Looking forward to revealing the final image.
